What is GunProg?

GunProg is a project to develop a universal chip programmer for use by electronics hobbyists. The main requirements are:-

  • The hardware must be capable of being constructed by a reasonably skilled hobbyist.
  • The hardware must be cheap to construct. A typical commercial programmer costs £300; the GunProg programmer should come in at around £100.
  • The GunFire software will be used to control the hardware from the external computer via a port.
  • If microcontrollers are to be used, the PIC series will be used.
